Advancing Harm Reduction and Navigation to Care

The Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Violence and Injury Prevention Program (VIPP) is excited to announce the release of the Advancing Harm Reduction and Navigation to Care Funding Request For Application.

We are seeking proposals from qualified organizations because we recognize the value of your expertise and the impact you can make. Your support for Syringe Service Programs (SSPs) and harm reduction initiatives is crucial in initiating, expanding, and supporting programs and outreach by navigators (e.g., people with lived experience case managers) to promote access to harm reduction services (such as SSPs) and to link people to care from harm reduction services, as appropriate.

Key Dates:

  • Application Due Date: No later than May 10th, 2024, at 11:59pm MST
  • Award Announcement Date: Applicants will be notified of funding status on or before June 3rd, 2024
  • Start Date: July 1st, 2024

The goal of this grant is to empower navigators in their crucial role of connecting people who use drugs to services. By ensuring that people have access to reversal tools, prevention, and treatment options, we are collectively working towards a healthier and safer community. Navigators will meet people where they are, identify and collaborate with community resources, enable connection to treatment, improve accessibility to recovery support services, and increase community-supported intervention points.

This grant opportunity aims to provide financial support to organizations committed to implementing evidence-based harm reduction strategies, warm handoffs, fostering community engagement, and reducing the negative consequences associated with substance use. The grant will provide funding up to $50,000 per year for four organizations for a duration of four years.

We are looking forward to receiving your proposal and learning more about the great work you all are doing. I will be collecting all questions and will be releasing a Q&A document on/or before April 22nd. If you have any questions, please email me triciaabishop@utah.gov.
